Recovering his calm, Datta told Leela, “Our unwise conduct doesn’t appear to be of our doing. “After I take birth as a buffalo, you will be born as a bull and satisfy my unfulfilled desires.” Insist you are a mahishi, you will be born as a mahishi (buffalo) among the Asuras in your next life.” His keenness in overcoming desire had done little to rid him of anger. Angry at her unwieldiness, Datta cursed her. “I am your mahishi (queen),” she cried over and over again. “How can you desert me?” Leela was furious.
